Kaukauna, WI; July 24, 2014 – Kurz Electric was the presenting sponsor for the 10th round of Thursday Night Thunder at Wisconsin International Raceway.
The 2014 racing season could be one of Lowell Bennett’s finest at Wisconsin International Raceway. That’s saying a lot for a driver whose career has spanned nearly four decades. Tonight’s victory was the third of the season, and the second straight win for Bennett who extended his point lead over Jeff Van Oudenhoven. Van Oudenhoven had been collected in an incident with rookie Sawyer Effertz and suffered a DNF.

The annual Kid’s Big Wheel race will take place at intermission with the first 50 kids getting medals from Gnome Games. Ashland, WI, July 19,2014 – As part of the celebration of its 50th season of operation, the Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association paid tribute to several very special men, women and organizations by introducing them as the first-ever inductees into the newly-formed ABC Raceway Hall of Fame during an emotional ceremony during a break in Saturday night’s racing action at the northern Wisconsin dirt track.

July 20, 2014; Slinger, WI —Just days after his impressive fourth place finish in the SuperSeal Slinger Nationals, 66-year old Wisconsin Short Track Hall of Famer Conrad Morgan proved he still has what it takes as he held off fellow veteran Lowell Bennett to win the Pomp’s 60 super late model feature Sunday night at the Slinger Super Speedway.
“It feels like the older I get, the younger I feel,” Morgan told the crowd from victory lane, “when you’ve got Lowell (Bennett) behind you for ten or fifteen laps and you can still beat him, you’ve accomplished something. I’ve been racing him for 30 years and I don’t think we have ever had a run in.”

July 20, 2014; Sun Prairie, WI. – It had been 29 years since the last appearance of winged outlaw 410 sprints at the Angell Park Speedway. The Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints rolled into town to do battle on the legendary oval, and fans were treated to not only a new track record but also to an amazing finish where the lead ping ponged between multiple drivers over the final two laps. During a green, white checker finish setup when six-time champion Bill Balog nearly flipped in turn two while trying to steal the lead from Jordan Goldesberry.

July 19, 2014; Wilmot, WI – The annual Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints vs UNOH All-Star Circuit of Champions didn’t disappoint for it’s thrills and spills as there were plenty of each on a the challenging Wilmot Raceway third-mile clay oval.
The rescheduled Salute to the Founders of IRA also took place during the program, honoring Ray Toft, Whitey Harris and the late Junior Dodd, who originally organized and began the IRA back in March of 1968. Special feature trophies sponsored by the Southeastern Wisconsin Short Track Racing Hall of Fame honoring the founders were be presented.

Rice Lake WI, July 19, 2014 – Racing action Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway saw two more new drivers join the list of feature winners for 2014 while the top winner at the track won yet again. Dave Baxter and Jimmy Randall won the WISSOTA Modified and Street Stock features respectively and took home their first wins at the track this year while Jason Havel added to his top winning total for the year. Others winners on a balmy and breezy Saturday night included Ryan Viltz, Willy Johnsen Jr. and Curt Myers.

July 19, 2014; Jefferson, WI - Current point leader and defending Late Model champion, Dale Nottestad of Cambridge, added to his long list of accomplishments at Wisconsin’s Action Track on Saturday night. Nottestad picked his way to the front of the Trostel Limited 50 lap feature event and ended in victory lane with his third feature win of the season.

Ashland, WI, July 19, 2014 -- Phillips’ Jeff Spacek gained an $800 paycheck after Saturday night’s “Modified Mayhem” feature at the ABC Raceway, highlighting a program during which the track honored its first-ever Hall of Fame inductees.
A windy, overcast afternoon turned clear and muggy after nightfall as 80 racers competed on another fast, racy track during the five-division AmsOil Dirt Track Series program presented by the NAPA Auto Parts Stores of Ashland and Washburn.
