30 LAP CONTEST GOES GREEN TO CHECKERED IN LESS THAN 7 MINUTES!
August 17, 2014; Seymour, WI - Though the start of the program at Seymour Speedway was slightly delayed as the track staff worked to create ideal racing conditions. Fans were rewarded with that effort by being able to witness two amazing achievements. First off, the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw sprints lowered the track’s all-time record for the fastest lap on the third-mile banked oval, and later came back to run the 30 lap main event which ran without interruption from green to checkered in less than seven minutes.
Fans also saw, six-time series champion Bill Balog put on a passing clinic. First he would work his way to the front of the pack, taking the lead from talented rookie Scotty Thiel. He then skillfully worked his way past lapped cars, seemingly unhindered, to outrun the field, and collect the victory. It was his ninth win of the 2014 season.
REINKE ROCKETS TO VICTORY IN ROGER ILES TRIBUTE AT WILMOT – BREAKS TWO YEAR DRY SPELL IN BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINTS!
BORLAND GRABS CAREER BEST FINISH, TAKES SECOND AFTER PACING THE ACTION UNTIL THE FINAL LAPS!
August 16, 2014; Wilmot, WI – It had been a long time coming, and well deserved. Mike Reinke took advantage of a late race restart and powered past Russel Borland to capture the prestigious Roger Iles Memorial event. In doing so, Reinke broke a two-year dry spell, and collected the top prize of $3,600 in the process.
Though sometimes frustrated with his own performances, Reinke has had an amazing number of solid showings since his last victory. He last stood in victory lane on June 2, 2012 at Cedar Lake Speedway. Since then he had posted six runner-up performances, and finished in the top five an amazing 30 times. Reinke was due for victory, it was just a matter of time, and after the checkered flag fell it was pure redemption as he saluted the crowd from the wing of his car.
FAIR TIME IS SHERM TIME! SOPHOMORE JEREMY SHULTZ BREAKS JINX, COLLECTS KENOSHA COUNTY FAIR CHECKERS IN IRA ACTION!
DAUN IMPRESSES WITH SECOND PLACE EFFORT WHILE RACING ‘ABOVE THE CUSHION’!
August 15, 2014; Wilmot, WI – The sophomore slump has been something talked about in sports, but under its definition surely is an image of Jeremy “Sherm” Schultz. Schultz had a stunning rookie season a year ago, taking a pair of A-main event wins. With skill and good fortune he managed runner-up honors to Bill Balog in the season standings, handedly earning the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series Rookie of the Year honors. It was the best showing by a rookie in the modern history of the series.
The 2014 season had proven to be an entirely different animal for Schultz. Call it a sophomore slump. His second season on the tour was filled with mechanical ills, and plenty of bumps along the way that has resulted in the resilient team taking a brief break to regroup.
Consider the regrouping process complete.
